Dream Heart Foundation is joining millions around the globe especially Uganda in commemorating World AIDS Day. This year, Dream Heart is reemphasizing the importance of unity, need for education, and support in the battle against HIV/AIDS.

According to the ministry of Health, Uganda recorded a decline of about 4% translating into a drop from 54000 to 52000 new HIV infections. This was between 2021 and 2022 with projections spilling into part of 2023.

However, the infection rate is alarmingly high in the Buganda region where Masaka and Dream Heart are situated. Southern Buganda tops the regional list of new infections with 9820 while Northern Buganda in second position accounts for 5730.

It is against this background that Dream Heart’s Zero HIV/AIDs program is working to change. The program is specifically dedicated to fighting HIV/AIDS through spreading awareness and sensitizing the community about the virus. It is also empowering individuals to take control of the virus’ spread.

The zero HIV/AIDs program empowers individuals with knowledge they need to protect themselves and their communities by dispelling myths, reducing stigma, and promoting safe practices. In effect, these amongst efforts from other key players will make a significant impact in preventing new HIV infections in Masaka and Uganda at large.

The program also offers vital support systems to those affected by the virus. This is through offering physical assistance and resources much needed to address challenges faced by individuals and families grappling with the virus and its effects.

Despite its efforts, Dream Heart can only do so much owing to limited resources. However with help from donors and relevant stakeholders, Dream Heart hopes to expand its fight against the virus. This will be through providing counseling services, access to testing or treatment, and assistance in navigating healthcare systems.

The foundation also plans to collaborate with new stakeholders like local healthcare providers to ensure that individuals living with HIV/AIDS receive the care they need.

Dream Heart has in its efforts closely worked with the Uganda Network of Aids Service Organizations (UNASO) to help fight the virus in 50 districts. With over 200 members, UNASO has actively coordinated and supported initiatives to help mitigate the virus’ spread as well as helping those affected.

Dream Heart commemorates World AIDS Day this year by advocating for a reenergized effort in fighting against HIV/AIDS especially in the Buganda region. The foundation therefore appeals to all interested parties to help out by donating towards the foundation’s efforts in fighting HIV/AIDS in Masaka.
